HSEQ Officer/ Manager – Civil construction in Sydney

This position is working with a leading tier two contractor in NSW. They work on civil infrastructure projects and covering structures, earthworks, utilities for airports, RMS, Sydney water and commercial and residential developments. The position requires an individual that can lead by example and manage their high ethics for HSEQ. The company deliver projects up to and sometimes above $20m.

The role requires you to have at least 5 years of experience in a similar HSEQ position. This can be within the civil or construction industry. The position will most likely suit you if you are struggling to advance to a management role due to a lack of career progression with your current employer.

Experience required:

– Qualification in WHS/Safety (Cert IV, diploma or similar)
– At least 10 years construction experience;

We are currently experiencing a high demand right up & down the coast & Darling Downs Queensland and are seeking expressions of interest from experienced Civil Engineers / Infrastructure Designinterested in joining us and capable of committing to the following assignments for an initial 12 month duration’s with the possibility of ongoing extensions and other projects with some of the biggest Engineering Consultancies in the industry.

The person will be responsible for providing professional technical advice and consulting services in the planning, design and construction procedures of Road and Bridge Infrastructure projects.

Mandatory Experience
A Minimum of 10 years post-RPEQ registration experience in the application of engineering planning and design principles and methodologies as they apply to planning, design, construction, maintenance and rehabilitation projects; and
Demonstrated expertise in managing and supervising projects to DTMR policies, standards and specifications.

Plan and review the engineering drawings and specifications;
Participate in engineering and planning investigations;
Analyze technical problems, assessing the feasibility of proposed techniques and procedures, and devising new approaches and alte
ative solutions;
Coordinate work with project manager, and guide junior professionals and technical personnel on the design and drafting of preliminary and final plans;
Oversee quality control, maintaining quality standards in all work produced, and checking computations or reviewing designs and drawings performed by others;
Manage projects by coordinating with the client, directing the design review process, coordinating the design review team, which may include other disciplines;
Undertake reviews of both temporary and permanent works designs on design and construct contracts to ensure compliance with contractual requirements, project brief, technical standards and legislation;

Roads and facilitate mutually agreeable outcomes to design issues between design reviewers and designers;
Conduct assessments of road and bridge infrastructure to ensure quality and compliance with departmental design standards and prepare reports on recommended engineering solutions to particular problems;
Provide engineering advice for the works, including testing and product specifications;
Prepare contract documentation, supplementary specifications and specification annexures for construction, rehabilitation and maintenance activities;
Review pavement designs prepared by consultants and design staff to ensure fitness for purpose and compliance; and
Provide engineering expertise and mentoring to the operation of the team.

Preferred additional Experience
Experience in the preparation of documentation and project briefs for AS2124-style contracts such as Transport Infrastructure Contracts – Construct Only (TIC-CO), Road Construction Contracts (RCC); AS4300 style Design and Construct (D&C) Contracts, relational contracts, or Collaborative Project Agreements (CPA) or Alliance.

Mandatory Qualifications
Civil Engineering Degree in or an equivalent qualification, which is accepted by the Institution of Engineers Australia as a full Member (MIEAust); and
Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ).

Assist the Civil Design Engineering Team in the provision of accurate and timely drafting and documentation.

This position reports directly to the Civil Engineers and CAD Design Manager. No subordinates report to this position.


Preparation of Drawings, models and supporting documentation using AutoCAD. Assist with the preparation of Bill of Quantities for Tender purposes.
Provide input into improving drafting operations, processes, and procedures. Work closely with the Engineering team to clarify drawing and/or documentation issues throughout the design and documentation process.
Conduct thorough self checking of information, drawings and documentation. Maintaining drawing registers and keeping documentation in order.
Provide regular project, drawing and documentation reviews and updates to the Engineering Team.
Take instruction from the Engineering Team.
Undertaking of rework as identified by the Engineering Team.
Perform general office duties as required.

ing and improvement processes in all aspects of the position. Implement, participate and promote Quality Assurance (QA) objectives, processes and procedures, including
